Liverpool to Seattle – Clipper Round the World 2017-18

Imagine!  5 oceans, 6 continents, 700 crew, 8 legs, 12 identical ocean racing yachts, and 40,000 miles starting Sunday 20th August from Liverpool.  The Port of Seattle is a programme sponsor and the Visit Seattle Clipper’s sail and hull will display the city’s skyline and include logos from co-sponsor Seattle Sports Commission, as well as host port partners the Port of Seattle’s Bell Harbor Marina and the Seattle Historic Waterfront Association.

Seattle will be the 7th host port, reached after the gruelling crossing of the North Pacific and is also the start of the US Coast to Coast leg. 23 year old Nikki Henderson, from Guildford UK, will be the race’s youngest ever skipper, and taking charge of the Visit Seattle yacht.

Nikki was asked what would be the toughest part of the challenge. The Pacific will be one of the most extreme mental and physical challenge my crew and I will face, the harder we push ourselves the greater the reward. The sense of achievement at the end will be life changing.” A visit to Seattle and Washington State is always life changing, but can be achieved so easily via the airlines detailed in this newsletter.
